Novel genes in renal aging

Renal aging is characterized by structural changes and functional decline. These changes make the elderly more vulnerable to chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, they also make it more difficult to cope with stress factors, such as dehydration, toxicity, and obstruction. These stress factors can lead to acute kidney injury and reduced recovery from acute kidney injury and may result in chronic kidney disease or even end-stage renal disease.
