The semiconductor industry has accomplished surprising growth, and its production basehas extended from the United States to Japan, Europe, and other Asian economies. One of thefactors of this phenomenon is the progress of vertical disintegration in the semiconductor industry.The boundaries of firms are discussed within a transaction cost framework.
