To determine the importance of developing physical strength in health maintenance by unversity students, I conducted a simple examination of the physical strength and the living conditions of Momoyama Gakuin University students. I examined the relationship between the student's physical condition and the results of their strength test, between the importance of exercise and the student's evaluation of their own physical strength, and between the need for exercise and the test results. The results of this investigation indicated that while students were dissatisfied with and lacked confidence in their own physical strength and were aware of the need for exercise, they nonetheless did not get the necessary amount of exercise. In future research I will consider ways whereby students who do not engage in sufficient exercise while recognizing the need for it can add the necessary amount of exercise to their daily life.
