Abstract
In article the problem of civilization identity of Latin America in the light of Jose Marty's heritage is analyzed. The author sees the peculiarity of the Latin American civilization in its "borderline". A distinctive feature of this civilizational type is the character of the correlation of the principles (principles) of unity and diversity, different from the great "classical" civilizations of the East and the West, namely, the dominant of diversity in the paradoxical preservation of the real unity of the civilizational system. Studying Marty's legacy allows us to understand that diversity is both a negation and a condition for such unity.
