The article analyzes the image of the power that was formed in the Holy Roman Empire under the impact of the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). The concept of the power was sufficiently formulated by German publicists in the everyday literature of the Thirty Years' War. A specific feature of German publicists of that time was the visualization of ideas about power, thanks to which it is now possible to trace the process of the formation of those stereotypes. The main innovation in the understanding of the power under the impact of the war was the expansion of the functions of power. Among those functions it is the problem of ensuring the security of the citizens that begins to occupy the first place.
