Abstract

The printed newspaper that appeared in the 17th century existed up to the end of the 20th century as an independent and self-sufficient unit. And even the appearance of other types of media did not significantly affect newspaper editorial offices in the current media system. Technological development and new information technologies of the beginning of the 21st century forced publishers to think about new ways of providing information, searching for other ways of distributing content and new principles of development in a convergent environment. The Finnish media model was largely shaped by the impact of national policies that created a highly developed technological and social infrastructure. Print media have historically been the most powerful and popular media in Finland and the Finns are some of the world's most read nations. Discussions about the processes of convergence, as an important trend in the development of modern media, do not lose their relevance.
