Abstract

The article is devoted to the investigation of the activities of the Ural Institute of Road Transport. The author defines the conditions and problems of the organization of the Institute and the distinctive characteristics of its administrative, technical, and material functioning. Educational and scientific work of the academic staff of the Institute is analyzed. The author draws attention to the academic achievements, everyday life and extracurricular activities of its students. Due to the fact that the original plans for the Institute did not include its formation in Tyumen, its work took place under the conditions of rigid pressure from the supervising authorities and rivalry with the Ural Agricultural Pedagogical Institute which was founded in the city during the same period.
