The first observation of the 6LH neutron-rich hypernucleus

Abstract
Abstract The FINUDA experiment at DA Φ NE , Frascati, has observed the neutron-rich hypernucleus H Λ 6 by searching for ( π + , π − ) pairs in coincidence from the K stop − + Li 6 → H Λ 6 + π + production reaction and the H Λ 6 → He 6 + π − mesonic weak decay. The production rate of H Λ 6 undergoing this two-body decay has been found to be ( 2.9 ± 2.0 ) ⋅ 10 − 6 / K stop − . The binding energy of H Λ 6 has been evaluated to be B Λ ( H Λ 6 ) = ( 4.0 ± 1.1 ) MeV with respect to H 5 + Λ , jointly from production and decay.
