Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon the asymmetric relationships between men and women –relationships that have represented a disadvantage particularly for women–. This has been a historical reality in all social contexts, and education institutions are not the exception. The inequality and inequity relationships have permeated the socially designated roles, in terms of sexual identity, which has contributed to women’s discrimination in accessing equal opportunities for their full development as human beings.
