Abstract

The subject of this study is the film editing as a process and the method of artistic thinking. The comparative analysis was made between the statements of film directors, critics and art historians to study the development of ideas about the film editing as a means of artistic expression. The article describes the historical and aesthetic regularities of film editing’s development as art language and reflection of artistic way of thinking during the twentieth century. The article shows the diversity of research approaches and opinions about the specifics of film editing. Representations about the nature of film editing illustrated by examples from the practice of cinema classics. The extensive experience of cinema in the light of new audio-visual equipment summarized.

Предметом исследования является монтаж как процесс и метод художественного мышления. Проведен сравнительный анализ высказываний режиссеров, киноведов, историков искусства с целью изучения развития представлений о монтаже как средстве художественной выразительности. Отмечены исторические, эстетические закономерности развития монтажа как языка кино, как отражения режиссёрского мышления в период ХХ века. Приведено многообразие исследовательских подходов и мнений о специфике монтажа. Представления о природе монтажа проиллюстрированы примерами из практики классиков кино. Обобщается большой опыт кинематографа в свете новой аудиовизуальной техники.
