Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the ways of transmitting culture-specific concepts when translating from Russian into English as well as lexical and semantic features of a text when choosing methods of translating culture-specific concepts into another language. L. N. Tolstoy's autobiographical trilogy "Childhood", "Boyhood", "Youth" where the reflection of the cultural and historical development of Russia is presented in culture-specific concepts. Taking into account the main difficulties in translation, which lie in preserving the meaning laid down by the author, his style and stylistic means to achieve the translator's reconstruction of the content of the source text, the article proposes the method of stylistic and lexical-semantic analysis. The practical value of the research lies in the application of the obtained results to translation activities, which will help the translator preserve the national flavor of the original work by taking into account a certain historical and cultural context and original features.
