This article is devoted to the presentation of the results of monitoring the development of industry in Altai Krai in the period from 2018 to 2022. Its purpose is to record the shifts that occurred both in industry as a whole and its key sub-sectors under the influence of sharp external impacts on the economy — the coronavirus pandemic and the deployment of sanctions. The article reflects various aspects of the development of industrial production in Altai Krai, starting from its role and place in Russia's industry, shifts in sectoral and institutional structures, and ending with shifts in the availability of fixed assets. The article includes two main subsections. The first one gives a general characterization of the regional industry and structural macroeconomic shifts that took place in the period under review. The second subsection outlines the results of monitoring the development of the main subsectors of the regional economy specialization, including food and processing industry, transport, agricultural and power engineering, defense industry and biopharmaceuticals. The monitoring is based on the official data of the state and departmental statistics, reflecting the development of the regional industry in the period under consideration, including the materials of the websites of the relevant departments. According to the results of the analysis, the conclusions are made about the formation in the analyzed period of the tendency to increase the role of Altai industry in the Russian economy, as well as the outstripping growth (both in terms of the number of employees and fixed assets) of manufacturing industries compared to other sectors of industry in the region. A higher share of public sector enterprises in the Krai's industry compared to Russia and SFD is noted, combined with a noticeably lower share of joint Russian and foreign-owned enterprises. The article is of interest to all those interested in the problems of economic development of the Krai in the conditions of sanctions restrictions and instability in the world markets.
