Análisis territorial de la vulnerabilidad social en ciudades de Quintana Roo, México: Un enfoque multidimensional

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la vulnerabilidad social en siete ciudades de Quintana Roo, México, utilizando un enfoque multidimensional para comprender las dinámicas territoriales que impactan a una población con grandes disparidades y crecimiento constante debido al turismo. Se desarrolló un índice de vulnerabilidad social (IVS) con cuatro variantes (bivariado, absoluto, relativo y sintético), construido a partir de 18 variables del Censo de Población y Vivienda 2020 a nivel de manzana urbana. La metodología, de alta replicabilidad y resolución espacial, considera la vulnerabilidad como un fenómeno sistémico que requiere intervenciones específicas y adaptadas a los contextos sociales particulares.Los resultados muestran patrones complejos de vulnerabilidad en áreas urbanas densamente pobladas, particularmente en zonas periféricas, barrios marginados y asentamientos irregulares. Se identificaron factores clave como el bajo nivel educativo del jefe del hogar, la alta proporción de menores, la falta de acceso a servicios de salud y la carencia de servicios básicos principalmente. Los aportes del estudio tienen implicaciones relevantes para el diseño de políticas públicas e intervenciones focalizadas, las cuales son prioritarias en contextos de rápido crecimiento urbano y exposición ante riesgos socioambientales propios de la región del Caribe Mexicano como inundaciones, intrusión salina y eventos climáticos extremos.
