Abstract

El presente trabajo describe algunas condiciones de desempeño laboral y de salud física y psicológica en 91 mujeres enfermeras de Santafé de Bogotá; también se presentan diferencias en los riesgos de salud cardiovascular o psicológica que parecen depender de algunas condiciones laborales. Los objetivos específicos de la investigación fueron describir tanto las condiciones laborales como los indicadores de salud cardiovascular y psicológica de la muestra estudiada, y comparar grupos de enfermeras en algunos indicadores de salud teniendo en cuenta aspectos como el horario laboral (6, 8 ó 12 horas diarias), institución en la que trabajan (privada o pública) y cargo que desempeñan (enfermera jefe, coordinadora de enfermeras y enfermera auxiliar). Los datos confirman que trabajar como enfermera puede representar un riesgo para la salud tanto física como psicológica de la persona. El horario de trabajo, el cargo desempeñado y la institución a la que los sujetos estén vinculados son aspectos que pueden incrementar los riesgos de salud. Los datos obtenidos indican que las enfermeras que trabajan durante 12 horas al día, que son enfermeras auxiliares y que trabajan en instituciones públicas de salud se encuentran expuestas a un mayor número de riesgos para su salud física y psicológica y a una calidad de vida menor que las enfermeras con otras características.
