ESTRATEGIA PARA AUMENTAR LA HIGIENE BUCAL EN LOS ADOLESCENTES

Abstract

El estomatólogo, en su práctica diaria, recibe a pacientes procedentes de una comunidad vital y activa. Sus actitudes reflejan en gran parte las ideas y sentir de aquellos con los cuales están asociados: familias, amigos, vecinos y compañeros de trabajo. La resistencia o aceptación de las recomendaciones del estomatólogo refleja con frecuencia un consenso general entre las personas relacionadas con el paciente. Por ello, más que el trabajo curativo para eliminar las enfermedades bucales, las caries y las periodontopatías, y como única solución posible, es necesario poner en práctica un programa eficaz de prevención sobre la educación y la motivación de los pacientes para que adopten métodos y conductas que garanticen una correcta higiene bucal y eviten enfermar1.
