Abstract

Neste trabalho foram determinados o tipo de desova e a fecundidade de Astyanax schubarti durante o perí­­odo de junho de 1989 a maio de 1990 na Represa de Ibitinga, Estado de São Paulo (21° 46'S í 48° 59'W). Foram utilizadas 31 fêmeas maduras, das quais a fecundidade média obtida foi 4924 ovócitos. A partir da observação de 145 fêmeas, demonstrou-se que a desova é descontí­­nua, periódica anual, ocorrendo o seu ápice em dezembro e janeiro, perí­­odo este em que ocorrem também os maiores í­­ndices gonadossomátí­­co, gonadal e fator de condição.
