Etiologia de la Ulcera Genital y su relacion con la infeccion por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana

Abstract

Se estudiarion 65 pacientes con Ulcera Genital en un período de 15 meses en el Laboratorio Departamental de Salud Pública de Medellín (L.D.S.P). Los objetivos del trabajo fueron determinar las causas más frecuentes de Ulcera Genital y buscar la frecuencia de infección por VIH en estos pacientes. Además, utili­zar medios de cultivo enriquecidos para obtener el cre­cimiento de H. ducreyi como un nuevo método diagnóstico en nuestro medio. En la población estudiada, se encontró al H. ducreyi como agente infeccioso más frecuentemente implicado en el origen de la Ulcera Genital, así como también de úlceras mixtas e inespecíficas. La infección por VIH es­tuvo presente en 18,46% de los pacientes y en este grupo el agente más frecuente fue el virus del Herpes simplex. La Ulcera Genital es un problema de difícil diagnóstico, tanto clínico como de laboratorio; su presencia, junto con otros factores de riesgo como la promiscuidad, aumenta el riesgo de infección por VIH.
