Competencia informacional en lengua extranjera en estudiantes universitarios de Colombia

Abstract

Este estudio examina la relación de la competencia informacional (CI) con el inglés como lengua extranjera, en base a presupuestos de la semiótica del discurso. Se observó y caracterizó la CI de 37 estudiantes universitarios cuya lengua materna es el español y que contaban con experiencias previas de aprendizaje del inglés. El estudio hizo uso de un instrumento de observación (instrumento de perfil, protocolo en voz alta y entrevista), el cual permitió: 1) demostrar que los participantes, informacionalmente, son recolectores y verificadores; 2) evidenciar un vínculo entre la CI y la competencia en lengua extranjera, y 3) constatar la disposición para aprender inglés y la importancia asignada a éste para la vida profesional. El estudio discute posibilidades investigativas en relación con el objeto de estudio y sugiere dos aspectos por explorar: el apoyo bidireccional y la relación entre los desempeños.
