La religiosidad popular en la globalización

Abstract

La religiosidad popular, sus imágenes y santuarios, crecen en devotos, más aún se internacionalizan y extienden su área de influencia, producto de las migraciones y la globalización. Lo tradicional cambia, lo local y regional se internacionaliza, la jerarquía eclesiástica también realiza sus cambios, no sólo llegan peregrinos al santuario, sino que la imagen pere-grina viaja a los Estados Unidos, sacerdotes y exposiciones, también. Los artículos de venta en torno al culto llegan de Asia, pasando por Europa, para acabar en hogares mexicanos o estadounidenses. Esto lo veremos a través del estudio de caso del Santo Niño de Atocha (Plateros, Fresnillo, Zacatecas) y la Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos (San Juan, el Bajío, Jalisco), en México.
