
O artigo analisa o contexto e a implantação da política de ação afirmativa nas universidades públicas do Brasil hoje, como uma realidade social tangível. De forma geral, traça um breve histórico do surgimento dessa política em alguns países com forte assimetria racial, discute sua importância para a superação das desigualdades na educação superior e a necessidade do fortalecimento e sua institucionalização na UFMA. Abstract This article examines the context and the implementation of the policy of affirmative action in public universities in Brazil today as atangible social reality. Generally, traces a brief history of the emergence of this policy in some countries with strong racial asymmetry, discusses its importance for overcoming inequalities in higher education and the need for strengthening and institutionalizing those actions at UFMA.
