
Se presenta un estudio prospectivo descriptivo en 129 pacientes con enfermedad inflamatoria vesicular a quienes se les practicó colecistectomía en el Hospital General de Medellín, en un período de 8 meses (septiembre de 1990 a abril de 1991). Sesenta y seis fueron realizadas en pacientes con colecistitis aguda y 63 como cirugía electiva. La mitad de los pacientes fueron menores de 40 años y el 61.6% fueron mujeres con una paridad menor de 3. No hubo diferencia entre los grupos según la edad, sexo, paridad, antecedentes personales y técnica quirúrgica.
