Abstract

En este artículo se rastrea la relación entre los procedimientos narrativos de los casos que José Ingenieros publica, sobre todo en su Criminología, derivados de historias clínicas, y el modelo de la biografía, muy cultivado por la historiografía positivista. La ejemplaridad del caso clínico y la pérdida, en muchos casos, del anonimato del sujeto involucrado lo acercan a la biografía, en una operación que se relaciona estrechamente con la ampliación del campo de actuación de los médicos que, legitimados por la extrapolación del cientificismo a distintos órdenes de la actividad intelectual, se convirtieron en intérpretes de la historia política y social. Por otra parte, en la biografía profesional del médico, diseminada en los distintos casos narrados, una verdadera pulsión autobiográfica horada la pretendida neutralidad y objetividad del discurso médico.
