Abstract

In 2016, the Rarities Committee of the Slovak Ornithological Society/BirdLife Slovakia reviewed 45 records, of which 41 were accepted in the category A, 4 in category C. First record of Radde´s Warbler (Phylloscopus schwarzi), Little Bunting (Emberiza pusilla) and Pallas´s Gull, two records of Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus), two records of Brant Goose (Branta bernicla), two records of Pink-footed Goose (Anser brachyrhynchus), one record of Ortolan Bunting (Emberiza hortulana) and one record of Yellow-browed Warbler (Phylloscopus inornatus) were the most interesting records in 2016. Rarities Committee accepted also some other valuable observations from the years 2015 and 2016. For example five records of Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis), four records of Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis), four records of Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca), one record of Common Eider (Somateria mollissima), several records of Horned Grebe (Podiceps auritus), one record of Cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis), two records of Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus), five records of Pallid Harrier (Circus macrourus), five records of European Herring Gull (Larus argentatus), one record of Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus), three records of European Roller (Coracias garrulus) and one record of Greenish Warbler (Phylloscopus trochiloides).
