Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo compreender o modo como os professores concebem o trabalho docente na educação superior, analisando as atividades desenvolvidas no cotidiano de diferentes instituições particulares do Agreste de Pernambuco. A pesquisa envolveu 22 professores dos cursos de licenciaturas, que responderam a um questionário composto por questões abertas e fechadas. Os resultados revelaram que os professores sentem-se satisfeitos com o trabalho e com a profissão e veem o trabalho docente como desafiante, motivador, prazeroso e de relevância social. Ao mesmo tempo, eles destacam os diversos desafios enfrentados pelas Instituições de Educação Superior e seus profissionais, sobretudo aqueles ligados ao perfil do aluno. O quadro que se apresenta em relação ao trabalho docente é ambíguo, pois há por um lado uma sensação de bem-estar, ao mesmo tempo em que o trabalho é desafiante e limitado.
