[Rural depopulation forms]

Abstract

[During the intercensal period 1990-1999, twenty-six of the ninety-six departments of metropolitan France experienced a decline in population. However, apart from Paris, most of these departments may be considered rural insofar as their urban population proportion is lower and, usually, well below the national average, and where their main ciy often has less or even much less than 50 000 inhabitants. One might conclude that the depopulation of rural departments is part of a uniform logic. But he did nothing.]
