This paper presents a control design based on model predictive control (MPC). The control objective is to regulate the wind turbine speed by modifying the blade angle, i.e. the pitch. Fundamentally, the MPC allows incorporating in the design stage the system constraints, in this case the pitch slew rate and the maximum angle that blades can be rotated. Finally, simulation results show a good behavior of the proposed control.
