Abstract

The implantation and evolution of the thermal complexes in Hispania, due to the influence of the Roman world, entailed a series of typological, decorative and morphological changes, with the incorporation of new artificial heating systems such as the hipocaustum, from the late republican period in the second century BC, until its abandonment and destruction at the end of the Empire, in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. The bathroom habit also had an impact on the construction of private baths by the Roman aristocracy, known as balneum, both in the urban world, in the domus, and in the rural world, in the villae, this being one more example of sample of the power and luxuria.
