Abstract

Dragacevo is a region in southwestern Serbia consisting of small towns (Gucha and Luchani) and forty-eight villages. The Belica River is the largest river in this region, dividing it into Lower and Upper Dragacevo. We conducted a lexical-semantic and morphological analysis of our data. We demonstrated that color and physical appearance (including both overall appearance and specific body parts highlighted by their size or underdevelopment) are the most common motifs in animal naming. Our study illustrated the nuances of specific colors present in animal names within the observed area. Additionally, we performed a morphological analysis, identifying suffixes present in this onomastic category within the observed area.
