La construcción de la red de ferrocarriles en la España del siglo XIX constituye un episodio de gran trascendencia desde el punto de vista de su contribución al desarrollo econòmico del país. El estudio de la génesis, desarrollo y ocaso del modelo resulta muy interesante para analizar las potencialidades y limitaciones del sistema concesional.
