<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:sec id="j_iss-2018-0029_s_999_w2aab3b7c34b1b6b1aab1c16b1Aa"><jats:title>Background</jats:title><jats:p>Remote extracorporeal life support (ECLS) implantation and mobile ECLS are increasingly applied to enable the treatment of patients with refractory heart failure at specialized care centers.
