The research was commissioned by Migrant Workers North West in May 2009 and conducted by researchers from the Salford Housing & Urban Studies Unit (SHUSU) at the University of Salford and Merseyside Social Inclusion Observatory (MSIO) at the University of Liverpool. The purpose was to provide a more in-depth understanding of what motivates people to come to the UK, what affects people’s decisions to stay or leave, and what migrants perceive their contribution to be to the UK. This executive summary provides an outline of the key findings.
