Blogging in the UK and Ireland
This article presents a snapshot of the sort of things that librarians are doing with blogs in 2008. It explores themes and issues via case studies which prove that British and Irish librarians are blogging a lot and have been doing so for some time. The most common use of blogs is by subject librarians however they are also being used to reach specific groups of library users (such as distance learners), to provide support for particular applications (EndNote or RefWorks) and to keep members informed about library projects (for example refurbishment, institutional repositories). Additionally they are a channel for the dissemination of general library news and a means of internal communication within libraries.
