Confinement stabilises single crystal vaterite rods

<p>Single-crystals of vaterite, the least-stable anhydrous polymorph of CaCO<sub>3</sub>, are rare in biogenic and synthetic systems. We here describe the synthesis of high aspect ratio single crystal vaterite rods under additive-free conditions by precipitating CaCO<sub>3</sub> within the cylindrical pores of track-etch membranes.</p>
