eHealth: setting the scene eHealth is a term meant to describe the use of emerging information technology to improve, or enable health and health-care. Over the last few years, it has gradually come to encompass earlier descriptions of information technology applications in medicine and health-care, such as telemedicine, telematics, telehealth and interactive health communications. In the context of this article, eHealth is to be understood as "... the use of information and communication technologies, in combination with computer networks, intended to promote health and support health-care service delivery and use beyond organisational boundaries" (1).(Int J Circumpolar Health 2004; 63(4):322-327)
