Konstruktionen av relationen mellan ekonomi och utbildningssystemet inom den utbildningspolitiska diskursen i Sverige, 1930-2000

The article presents a research project that aims at reconstructing the semantic construction of the relationship between the educational system and the economy in the educational policy discourse in Sweden 1930-2000, using the reports of government commissions as its main source material. It is shown that confidence in planning and the possibility of adapting the educational system to the perceived needs of the economy increased from 1930 to 1960. The rhetoric of self-steering of the educational system was increasingly replaced by a rhetoric of connecting the educational system to the “needs” of economy and society.
