An evaluation of genetic typing systems (PFGE, mtDNA-RFLP, RAPD) on 22 isolates of Candida glabrata (ex Torulopsis glabrata) was undertaken. This evaluation indicated that PFGE has the highest degree of discrimination. The other methods can be used as complementary techniques when ambiguous results occur with PFGE.Keywords: Candida glabrata, mtDNA-RFLP, PFGE, RAPD, DNA polymorphism, epidemiology.
