In the manuscript, we calculate transient state availability of a bleaching system using MATLAB. The same system, we discuss applying matrix method [1]. The matrix method involves matrix multiplication. To make the method more friendly and practical we use MATLAB for matrix multiplication which is essentially involved in matrix method. The results of the two methods match completely. Dr Jai Singh et. al. [2] applies c++ to calculate availability of a complex system bread manufacturing plant which involves twenty four differential difference equations. For repeated multiplication of matrices in this method we use MATLAB. We observe that MATLAB gives more accuracy than multiplication by c++, as higher order multiple multiplication in MATLAB is more practical in comparison to c++.
