This review provides information about the physicochemical properties and basic directions of microcrystalline cellulose use due to the structural and morphological features of its particles. Biomedical applications of microcrystalline cellulose, such as the production of dosage forms and making non-toxic bioresorbable materials for medical applications, discussed in detail. The main factors that determine the applications of microcrystalline cellulose are the morphological characteristics of the particles, a highly developed surface and physiological inertness, it was shown.
