Project AIMS: To generate new approaches for understanding the experience of bodily pain. To create a space for exploring issues raised by Elaine Scarry's seminal phenomenological text The Body in Pain, thus contributing to wider debates in the field of medical humanities concerning how pain is understood, conceptualised and dealt with clinically, emotionally and philosophically.
