Olas de calor en el Mediterráneo

Abstract

Nos acompaña el investigador del departamento de Biología Marina y Oceanografía en el Instituto de Ciencias del Mar de Barcelona, Joaquim Garrabou, con una amplia experiencia en la observación marina relacionada con el cambio climático. Este experto nos alerta de que el mar, al igual que ocurre en tierra, también sufre olas de calor, y que la temperatura del agua ha subido 1 grado en el Mediterráneo en los últimos años. Como consecuencia, cada vez son más habituales los episodios de mortandad masiva de organismos marinos como el ocurrido en el Mar Menor, así como el desplazamiento de especies a otras zonas alterando el equilibrio de la biodiversidad. También se repetirán con más asiduidad las lluvias torrenciales o los ‘reventones húmedos’ como el del pasado Warm Up, ya que el mar regula el ciclo del agua y cuanto más caliente está, mayor evaporación y más riesgo de DANAS o gotas frías
