The figure shows the dependence on the time difference for SST validation results from comparing AATSR SSTskin to SSTs from four different in situ data sources. Three provide SSTdepth - drifters, GTMBA and Argo; the radiometers provide SSTskin.The dependence on time difference is due to diurnal variability. In additon, for the non SSTskin data there is an offset due to the cool-skin effect.
