Mission RDM: a card-based educational escape game on research data management

Abstract

Abstract Information specialists working in academic libraries are nowadays often asked to assist researchers with the management of their research data. In order to offer these professionals an introductory training on this topic, we designed and tested a serious game prototype. « Mission RDM: the ultimate quest before the holidays » is a card-based educational escape game based on the « Unlock » games series. It is a collaborative game for 1 to 4 players whose objective is to fill a roadmap that presents the data lifecycle and the corresponding tasks. Initially developed for information professionals, it could also be offered to other groups needing an introductory training about research data management. This is a translation of the French version of the game, available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6391188 This research project was conducted as part of the Master of Science in Information science at the Geneva School of Business Administration.
