This research activity aims to develop and apply a past-to-present modelled dataset for European biodiversity. The dataset will be used to assess the status of two selected habitats of the Habitats Directive, Nardus grasslands (EU habitat code 6220) and alpine grasslands (EU habitat code 6230). The project will leverage monitoring data on biodiversity to assess the status of these habitats and identify areas for improvement. The research will also investigate the potential synergies of the EBVs developed in each showcase, in conjunction with existing environmental policies, for a comprehensive assessment of European biodiversity. The findings of this research will inform the development of a European Biodiversity Observation Network to monitor the status and trends of European biodiversity and ecosystems in the coming years.
