Abstract
This paper aims at exploring the everyday life and how it is affected by obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), specifically the fear of germs and illness. In development of the project, we focused on four objective categories regarding everyday life: everyday chores, social relations, work, and the corona pandemic. The project has a critical psychological point of view throughout and will be based primarily on theories from said field as well the analysis of two interviews. Given the chosen theoretical perspective the interviews aim at receiving a detailed description of the conduct of everyday life, of a person with OCD, as well as associated feelings. The paper concludes that OCD does in fact influence the individuals’ conditions in everyday life although primarily regarding everyday chores, social relations, and work. Subsequently, it concludes that the corona pandemic was not as influential as first speculated.
