Abstract

Lien Internet : https://www.mitterrand.org/le-10-mai-1981-vu-despagne-entre-encouragements-espoirs-et-mefiance.html; Analysant les réactions étrangères, essentiellement anglo-saxonnes, à l’élection présidentielle du 10 mai 1981, Robert Frank parle d’un « effet Mitterrand »[1], qu’il définit comme un « état de grâce », avant tout médiatique, et un effet de surprise globalement positif, qui n’empêche pas malgré tout l’existence d’un certain désarroi du côté des gouvernements. Même si l’élection de François Mitterrand à la présidence de la République ne constitue pas un « événement-monde » au même titre que le 11 septembre 1973, ou plus tard, le 11 septembre 2001[2], elle a eu un important écho en Europe et a été abondamment commentée par la presse, les gouvernements et dans les chancelleries. Quel a été, plus précisément, l’impact en Espagne du scrutin du 10 mai 1981 ? Comment l’arrivée au pouvoir de François Mitterrand, puis de la gauche socialiste – première alternance forte sous la Ve République – a-t-elle été perçue au-delà des Pyrénées ? Peut-on comparer les réactions espagnoles aux réactions anglo-saxonnes ? Autrement dit, y a-t-il eu un effet de surprise, un trouble ou bien au contraire une euphorie, un effet de contagion, une couverture médiatique importante ou bien une certaine indifférence, comme dans le cas russe ? Il s’agit donc ici de compléter l’étude de cet « effet Mitterrand » en envisageant non seulement les réactions espagnoles au scrutin présidentiel du 10 mai 1981, mais plus globalement à l’alternance de 1981. L’analyse implique ainsi une ouverture chronologique plus large et une réflexion sur le changement politique que constitue l’arrivée au pouvoir des socialistes en France.
