Geología y riesgos asociados a la traza de la ruta nacional Nº 34 Salta-Jujuy

Abstract

El relieve de las provincias de Salta y Jujuy es el resultado de la interacción de factores de origen geológico, tectónico, estructural y climático, que dieron lugar a las diferentes unidades morfoestructurales que lo conforman, tales como Puna (P), Cordillera Oriental (CO), Sierras Subandinas (SS) y Llanura Chaqueña (LCh). Cada una de ellas se distingue por definir un dominio geoambiental con características propias. En el presente trabajo, interesan las unidades de SS y LCh, debido a que en ellas se concentró la actividad socio-económica de ambas provincias y en especial a lo largo de la traza de la ruta nacional Nº 34, coincidente con el Ramal C16 del Ferrocarril General Belgrano, prácticamente inactivo en la actualidad. A lo largo de esta traza se desarrollaron los principales asentamientos urbanos, lo que la constituyó en el eje de la actividad agro-ganadera, forestal, industrial y petrolera de ambas provincias. La intensa actividad antrópica potencia riesgos relacionados con los factores primigenios del geoambiente.
