Abstract

The present research work is based on the identity of the Arabic dances school Al Shamal, that belongs to the Syrian Lebanese Society in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. Being a representant of the Arab culture through dance, this school focuses on folk and fantasy dances from several Arab countries, besides Syria and Lebanon. As a school, it offers a title of “Arabic dance teacher and professional dancer” to all the students who take and pass the theoretical and practical exams from 1st to 5th year of the career. They also offer initiation and improvement workshops in dance, in addition to Arabic folklore workshops, seminars and participation of other professional dancers and outstanding musicians, which complement and enrich the teaching for both students and teachers. For being a work referred to an artistic discipline from another culture, you will appreciate the aspects of it, not only in art as dance, but also visually with calligraphy. All the work is closely related to the Arabic culture and graphic design, this leads to a final proposal that reconciles both disciplines and shows the possible applications of it.
