Abstract

The lecture provided information on the region of Latgale (south-eastern part of the present days Latvia) and focuses on its territorial changes from middle-ages until now, as well as on the earliest historical records about Latgale and its linguistic and cultural distinctiveness in the scope of the Baltic region.

Přednáška mapuje historické, etnické a lingvistické postavení Latgalska (regionu v jihovýchodní části Lotyšské republiky) v rámci širšího baltského kontextu: jsou vysvětleny změny geografické rozlohy Latgalska, zachycení regionu v historických pramenech, jazyková specifika a kulturní svéráznost.
