Abstract

Nowadays, the elderly in Cyprus are quite cut off from technological development, however, technology and in particular the use of Virtual Reality (VR) would help them a lot in many areas of their lives. The aim of the project is to inform and promote the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in the elderly in Cyprus. The project was implemented through four phases. Ηn the first phase of the project a literature review was carried out where the VR and its uses today were investigated. In addition, research has been done on the elderly and technology, but also in conjunction with the VR based on similar research carried out at international level. The second phase of the project is about the elderly and VR in Cyprus nowadays. The usage of existing VR applications by the elderly was observed and questionnaires were followed to evaluate its use by the specific population group. In the third phase of the project, ways of promoting the use of VR were created and implemented. The promotion methods were determined based on the results of the questionnaires and included the advertisement posters and leaflets, a website, social media pages and a promotional video. This was followed by a process of evaluation through interviews by three people selected to cover different categories, where the purpose was to extract information about the applicability of the promotional material in promoting the use of VR by the elderly. Finally, the project was led to the final stage of the conclusions. Στις μέρες μας τα ηλικιωμένα άτομα στην Κύπρο είναι αρκετά αποκομμένα από την τεχνολογική εξέλιξη, ωστόσο η τεχνολογία και συγκεκριμένα η χρήση τη: Εικονικής Πραγματικότητας (ΕΠ), θα τους βοηθούσε ιδιαίτερα σε πολλούς τομείς της ζωής τους. Σκοπός του έργου, είναι η ενημέρωση και η προώθηση της χρήσης της Εικονικής Πραγματικότητας στους ηλικιωμένους στην Κύπρο. Το έργο υλοποιήθηκε μέσα από τέσσερεις φάσεις. Στην πρώτη φάση του έργου πραγματοποιήθηκε η ανασκόπηση βιβλιογραφίας, όπου ερευνήθηκε η ΕΠ και οι χρήσεις της στις μέρες μας. Επιπρόσθετα, έγινε έρευνα όσον αφορά τους ηλικιωμένους και την τεχνολογία αλλά και σε συνδυασμό με την ΕΠ από παρόμοιες έρευνες στον υπόλοιπο κόσμο. Στη συνέχεια, η δεύτερη φάση του έργου αφορά τους ηλικιωμένους και την ΕΠ στην Κύπρο σήμερα. Έγινε παρατήρηση χρήσης υφιστάμενων εφαρμογών ΕΠ από ηλικιωμένους και ακολούθησαν ερωτηματολόγια για αξιολόγηση της χρήση της από τη συγκεκριμένη ομάδα πληθυσμού Στην τρίτη φάση του έργου δημιουργήθηκαν και εφαρμόστηκαν τρόποι προώθησης της χρήσης της ΕΠ. Με βάση τα αποτελέσματα των ερωτηματολογίων, προσδιορίστηκαν οι μέθοδοι προώθησης και έγινε σχεδιασμός διαφημιστικών posters και leaflet, σχεδιασμός ιστοσελίδας. δημιουργία σελίδων σε μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης και δημιουργία προωθητικού video. Στη συνέχεια ακολούθησε διαδικασία αξιολόγησης μέσω συνεντεύξεων από τρία άτομα, τα οποία επιλέχθηκαν, ούτως ώστε να καλύπτουν διαφορετικές κατηγορίες, όπου σκοπός της ήταν η εξαγωγή συμπερασμάτων και πληροφοριών σχετικά με το σχεδιασμό του προωθητικού υλικού. Τέλος. το έργο οδηγήθηκε στο τελευταίο στάδιο με τα συμπεράσματα Completed
