Despite the fact that SMEs can strongly benefit from implementation of the Open Innovation (OI) in many dimensions, the opportunities for the application of the OI model in SMEs still remain unexploited due to the different factors (e.g. insufficient support of the policies/incentives, difficulties in accessing the existing funding schemes supporting innovations, lack of capacities/awareness/know-how etc.). With limited resources and by acting only in limed environments, the potentials for innovation-related information flows and collaboration opportunities for SMEs are commonly restricted in all terms. Recognising the importance of establishing the new cross-sector value chains and infrastructures as new business ecosystems, InnTense aims at first line to explore current tendencies and to develop a methodology which will offer comprehensive support to SMEs in overcoming the barriers for successful application of the OI and its implementation on the broader levels. InnTense Project is a Peer learning of innovation agencies action, bringing together three Project partner from three EU Member States (Germany, Italy and Croatia) with an aim of setting up the standardised methodology for the innovation support for SMEs. Based on the pervious experiences and faced challenges, InnTense Project partners will analyse, assess and document the current state, factors, drivers, hindrances and benefits for the application of the OI model in SMEs, aiming at reinforcement of the SMEs innovation capacities. In order to achieve the main project outcome – InnTense Design Option Paper, the Partnership will apply a sequence of tasks which will be constituting parts of the Twinning Advanced methodology, underpinning the InnTense Project. In this way InnTense aims to deliver SMEs support for the enhancement of the innovation capacities, at the same time establishing the permanent learning instrument for Innovation support agencies.

"Context:Current training in the aquaculture sector is based on providing training for workers with traditional methodologies and materials, which do not adjust to current technological development or a European perspective. In addition, there is a lack of homogenization in aquaculture techniques and a lack of common regulation that increases the differences between the member countries. The need for a unified training and, above all, accessible to all and take advantage of ICT is clear.Goals:There are two main objectives in the project:1. To develop a Standardized Training Program at a European level for the aquaculture sector, which, in addition to including the training modules necessary for the qualification of professionals in the sector, also includes the training content required for their training in the competencies of health, welfare and physical-chemical controls of fish.2. To develop the program through an online platform that allows quick and free access to anyone who wishes to carry it out. Integrate this program into an App where the user can review the contents, make an evaluation of it and obtain a certificate of knowledge. The partners members of the consortium are the following:- BENEFICIARY: The Spanish Aquaculture Farmer's Association (APROMAR)- SGS TECNOS (Spain) Enterprise specialized in quality and labor training- The Italian Pisciculture Association API (Italy)- The DOKUZ EYLUL University (Turkey) marine science and technology department- The Croatian Chamber of Commerce CCE (Croatia)Activities carried out:The project has been focused on 3 main activities:1. Make a preliminary report: ROADMAP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING TOOLS AT THE EUROPEAN LEVEL: ""HEALTHY_FISH"" This report was necessary to know the state of the art of training in Europe, prior to the development of a new training program2. THE EUROPEAN HEALTHY_FISH STANDARDIZED TRAINING PROGRAM. The partners developed a program divided into 11 modules and available in 5 languages3. The Online Platform and App HEALTHY_FISH. The program has been integrated into the Moodle platform, allowing access to online content and through the MoodleMobile App. In addition, it includes evaluation questionnaires for modules that issue a certificate of achievement, signed by the project entities for those who approve the evaluation. This is all available at http://apromar.es/healthyfishapp/Results and impact achieved:The main result of the project is the provision of an innovative training tool to the professionals of aquaculture farms on fish health and welfare. The additional impacts that the project is generating are:- Creation of innovative training materials- Impulse to the implementation of e_learning in the sector- Promotion of vocational training activities for professionals- Promotion of linguistic diversity in the sector (the program is in English, Spanish, Italian, Croatian and Turkish)- Improving the competitiveness of the sector with the introduction of ICT- Implementation of more efficient and sustainable pisciculture techniques- Professionalization of workers in the sectorLong-term benefits:The project will favor the normalization of training in terms of the professional qualification of the personnel of the aquaculture sector at European level. It will be a support tool for standardizationHealthy Fish has the approval of FEAP (European Federation of Aquaculture Producers) who have known in first hand their development and are disseminating it in their networks, as well as from the EATIP (European Aquaculture Technology Innovation platform) In this way, communication between the professionals of the sector and the debate on what the quality and sustainability standards in fish farming should be is being promoted."

In order to help SMEs to fully realise their potentials and overcome market failures specific to them, public support to innovation in SMEs is available with a wide range of instruments and support services. At this point, innovation support agencies play a substantial role as intermediates for SME innovation by designing and delivering the innovation support programmes. However, despite the recent strong engagements and delivery of diverse innovation support schemes, addressing different innovation challenges, innovation support agencies still lack in a provision of evidence-based results which will demonstrate effectives of these newly developed schemes. Strengthening innovation management capacities in SMEs is defined as one of priorities of the future agenda for creating market-oriented innovation, but on the other hand, market potential of Social Innovation seems to become in the focus in the past year. Yet this kind of innovation is not well known and acceptance seems to be still low. With an aim of addressing these key challenges - creating an evidence-based innovation support scheme and comprising two central aspects (economic and social), DepoSIt Project objectives to develop a significantly improved innovation support scheme - Innovation Audit tool for Social Innovation and test it in a real environment conditions. By the application of Randomised Control Trial (RCT) method, six DepoSIt Project partners from six EU countries, active and experienced in design and delivery of innovation support programmes, will test the scheme by engaging min. 60 SMEs and in this way examine its effectives. Successful experimentation results will lead to the scheme validation and its upscaling. Furthermore, the Project aims to serve as a best practice example in this way to stimulate and deploy additional innovation agencies (min. 18) to become more effective and efficient in design, delivery and especially in experimentation of designed innovation support schemes.
